The blob is real: one giant cell, millions of nuclei, zero neurons. It solves mazes and once redrew Tokyo's railway map,
by exploring every path at the same time. In philosophy, a monad is a single, indivisible unit. So the blob moved to Monad. And it turned purple.

The lore
The chronicles of the Blob
Everything below the crypto line is published science. Everything above it is, unfortunately, also what happened.

Chapter 1 Β· The forest floor
Not a plant. Not an animal.
Under the wet leaves of a forest lives something that is not a plant, not an animal and not a mushroom. One single cell, big enough to see, with millions of nuclei inside and no brain at all. Scientists named it Physarum polycephalum, "the many-headed slime". Everyone else calls it the blob.
In Japan, Toshiyuki Nakagaki put a blob in a maze, with oat flakes at the entrance and the exit. It didn't try one corridor, then the next. It filled every corridor at the same time, then pulled back from the dead ends, leaving one tube on the shortest path. The study was published in Nature. No brain. Just parallel.

Chapter 3 Β· 2010 Β· Tokyo
It redrew the railway
Next, researchers laid oat flakes in the shape of the cities around Tokyo. In about a day, the blob grew a network linking them that was about as efficient and as robust as the real Tokyo rail network, the one engineers spent decades building. That one was published in Science.

Chapter 4 Β· 2019 β 2021
A star in Paris, then space
In 2019 the Paris Zoological Park put a blob on display and the whole world wanted to see it. In 2021 blobs flew to the International Space Station with astronaut Thomas Pesquet, while thousands of French classrooms ran the same experiment on the ground. Not bad for a cell with no brain.

Chapter 5 Β· The slow chains
One path at a time? No.
Then the blob looked at blockchains. Transactions waiting in a single line, one after the other, each one paying to go first. One path at a time. For a creature that explores every path at once, it was physically painful to watch. A blob would never.
β‘π£
Chapter 6 Β· Monad
A chain named after a single cell
Then it found a chain named after a single, indivisible unit, that runs transactions side by side, with a fresh block every 400 milliseconds. It finally felt understood. It oozed in. And something strange happened: the bright yellow blob turned purple. Scientists can't explain it. Neither can we.

Chapter 7 Β· The salt
It learned to cross
The market turned red. FUD was poured like salt, and a blob hates salt. But blobs learn: in 2016, French researchers showed that a blob can get used to a bitter substance and cross it anyway. Then they showed something wilder: when two blobs merge, the one that knew teaches the other.
πβ¨
Chapter 8 Β· Now
Millions of nuclei, one cell
Every holder is a nucleus. Alone, a nucleus is nothing. Together they are one blob: no leader, no brain, and still smart enough to find the way up, every path at once. Cut it in half and you get two blobs. Leave them alone and they merge back. You can't really kill a blob. You can only make it bigger.
Built like Monad
How a blob solves a maze
A normal explorer tries one corridor, hits a wall, backs up, tries the next. The blob floods every corridor at once, then keeps only the best tube. Same maze, live:
πΆ One path at a time0 steps
π£ The blob Β· every path at once0 steps
One step = one tick of time. The blob does many things per tick, the explorer does one. That's the whole idea behind parallel execution, and behind Monad.
π
Explores every path at once
The blob grows down every corridor at the same time.
= parallel execution
π§¬
One cell, millions of nuclei
Millions of parts working at the same time, and still one single organism.
= a monad: one indivisible unit
π§
No brain, no boss
Nobody in charge, and the blob still finds the shortest path.
= decentralised, and it still agrees
π
Keeps only the best tube
It explores everything, then the result is one clean path, as if it had known the way.
= parallel, with the same result as in order
The cast
Friends, foes and breakfast
A blob doesn't have many enemies. It doesn't have many anything. Except nuclei.
Blob
the single cell
Purple, gooey, brainless and somehow smarter than your portfolio. Grows a few centimetres an hour. Never stops.
π§¬
The Nuclei
the holders
Millions of them, one blob. No leader. When enough of them agree on a direction, the whole cell moves.
π§
The Salt
FUD
Bitter, everywhere, poured on purpose. The blob used to stop at it. Then it learned to cross it.
πͺ
The Knife
the dump
Cuts the blob in two. Result: two blobs. Wait a bit: one blob again. The knife is still confused.
One cell, eight rules
The blob code
The blob has no brain to remember them. You do.
Explore every path. Then keep the best one.
Merge, don't split. When two blobs touch, they become one, and share what they learned.
Salt is just FUD. The blob learned to cross it. So can you.
Cut me, I multiply. Two halves, two blobs. Then one again, bigger.
No brain, no panic. You can't panic sell without a brain. Checkmate.
When it's dry, wait. A dried blob sleeps for years. A drop of water and it's back.
Oats for breakfast. gm is said with oats.
Nobody DMs you to "claim" $BLOB. Real blobs don't text.
Not marketing. Published science.
Built different. Literally.
1 cell
A blob is one single cell you can see with your own eyes, holding millions of nuclei.
0 neurons
Yet it finds the shortest path through a maze (Nakagaki et al., Nature, 2000).
Tokyo
Its network linking oat "cities" rivalled the real Tokyo rail network (Tero et al., Science, 2010).
720 sexes
About 720 mating types, depending on how you count. Everyone's welcome.
It learns
It gets used to bitter substances, and passes that on when it merges with another blob (Dussutour's team, 2016).
π Space
Blobs flew to the ISS in 2021 with Thomas Pesquet, for an experiment shared with French schools.

Oat Rush
You are the blob. Grow toward the oat flakes, get longer, don't touch the salt and don't cross yourself. Easy for a cell with no brain. Harder for you.
